Considerations in Management for Trans and Gender Diverse Patients with Inherited Cancer Risk

Abstract Purpose of Review To best support all patients with inherited cancer risk, we must broaden our scope practice to consider the needs transgender and gender diverse (trans) community. We considered for supporting trans including tailored risk assessments management recommendations. Recent Findings There is limited literature considering patient care in genetics. Small case studies have highlighted how medical transition risk–reducing options intersect need individualised care. Studies also shown that genetics professionals do not feel prepared patients. Summary Patient-centred relies on a multidisciplinary team (MDT) engaged shared decision-making. National guidelines are needed standardise access appropriate discussions around risk-reducing screening. International collaborative research required provide empiric data impact gender-affirming treatments more experiential from accessing services. Finally, education training this area should be formally embedded professionals.
